Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the title hollow fibers of uniform quality for fluid separation or specific clothing materials, with a large percentage of hollowness, by specifying the relation between the cut openings of orifices and the blowing surface of quenching air current to maintain the steady spinning conditions. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polymer is melt spun so that the opening parts 3 of the orifices 2 may face the blowing surface 6 of the quenching air. All the orifices must be in the same position relative to the blowing surface to uniform the quality of respective filaments. Preferably, the cut openings of all the orifices face the surface 6 at the same distance from the surface 6, and the quenching air is blown equally on the filaments. According to the method, hollow fibers, called tubular yarns or macaroni type, comprising ontinuous hollow parts in the long direction and uniform thermoplastic polymer walls can be obtained.
