Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce low hydrogen content steel, by blowing gas dried by quick lime into the connecting pipe between the bunker on the alloy iron storage furnace for adding molten steel and the alloy iron feeder to remove moisture from the alloy iron, and adding alloy iron not containing moisture to the molten steel.
CONSTITUTION: Alloy iron such as Fe-Si is added to the molten steel discharged into a ladle 17 after blowing, in order to adjust the composition, from a bunker 4a on the furnace through and electromagnetic feeder for dispensing 3. At this time, dry gas (e.g. air) at ordinary temperature dried by quick lime in a bunker 4b on the furnace is sucked 14 into a communicating pipe 5 between said bunker 4a and feeder 3 through bag filter 6 and blower 7 and is continuously supplied. As a result, the alloy iron in the pipe 5 is continuously dried, and the moisture existing in the alloy iron is removed before adding to the molten steel. Therefore, entry of hydrogen into the molten steel may be prevented, sp that low hydrogen content steel may be obtained.
