Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily and securely supply air highly purified as the laboratory air, by adsorbing and removing nitrogen dioxide occurring in the oxidation process, and nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide which are not adsorbed in the adsorption process, by using adsorbent.
CONSTITUTION: An air purification apparatus 1 possesses a catalytic oxidation unit 4, which consists of heat exchanger 5, indirect heater 6, catalyzer element 7, and water-cooling type cooler 8. The catalyzer for oxidation oxidizes not only hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide, but also nitrogen compounds and sulfur compounds, thereby turning into nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide. The air oxidized by the unit 4 is passed into adsorption units 9, 11 and oxidation unit 10 disposed on the air exhaust side of air passage A, and all the contained nitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide are adsorbed and removed. Thus, purified air may be supplied easily and securely.
