Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a curable composition for powder coating, having excellent storage stability and alkali resistance, and giving a smooth coating film, by blending two kinds of polyesters curable in air and having different reduced viscosities.
CONSTITUTION: A composition composed of (A) 70W99.9 parts by weight of a polyester curable in air and having a reduced viscosity (ηsp/C)A of 0.21W0.5, and (B) 30W0.01 parts of a polyester curable in air and having a reduced viscosity (ηsp/C)B of 0.05W0.25, wherein (ηsp/C)A - (ηsp/C)B ≥ 0.05. The polyesters can be prepared from a polybasic carboxylic acid such as isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid, a polyhydric alcohol, and an agent to impart the air-curability to the polyester, such as a saturated cycloaliphatic compound, a furan-containing compound and a benzyl-ester-containing compound.
