Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to measure a defacement quantity quantitatively whichever magnetic material metal a piston consists of, by detecting the width of the linkage part of a piston ring to measure the defacement quantity of the piston ring.
CONSTITUTION: Electromagnetic sensors 7 (normally, two oppsoite sensors) are fitted to cylinder liner 1, and piston ring 3 is always monitored. Then, a fuel room and sensors 7 are partitioned by sleeve 8. Scanner J selects a channel number according to the number of monitored cylinder, and signals are transmitted from scanner K to micro computer M through signal conditioner K and interface L. Then, anomaly decision of piston ring 3 is performed by comparing the signal pattern obtained by the normal piston ring part with the signal pattern obtained by the width of linkage 10 of tested piston ring 3 in micro computer M.
