Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate damage of recording medium surface, high voltage power source, etc. by making the output of a corona-discharging high voltage power source to a specified level irrespective of the output of the surface potential detection on the recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: The output voltage of an operational amplifier Q14 which constitutes a buffer circuit together with a resistance R39 is set at about 0.6V higher than the maximum value Vacmax of an AC charger control signal VAC which tries to act a limiter by regulating a variable resistance R31. The operational amplifier Q7 consisting of an inverter increases high voltage output current when the signal VAC lowers and therefore when this tries to become lower than the minimum value VACMIN, then a diode D31 goes ON and the signal VAC is applied to the output of Q14 via resistances R10, R41. Because of this, the output of Q14 becomes nearly constant and if R41 is sufficiently small with respect to R10, the increase in high voltage output current is suppressed.
