Abstract
PURPOSE: To lighten the restriction upon the design of a detector by equipping the detector with a solid electrolyte pump so that oxygen gases are supplied to one side of the sensor to generate detection signals and so that the oxygen gases are used as standard gases.
CONSTITUTION: The members 8 and 8' on a disc, which constitute a detector, are made of a solid electrolyte such as zirconia and are laid one on the other with their recessed sides facting each other thereby to form a hermetical hollow portion 9. If the detector is placed in hot gases Px to be measured, the member 8 functions as an oxygen battery so that signals corresponding to the difference in the oxygen concentration between the gases Px and the gases in the portion 9 are detectecd and can be read out by an indicator 6. At this time, the gases in the portion 9 are discharged from the communicating pipe 10 and are replaced by the oxygen gases in the gases to be measured. As a result, since the portion 9 is continuously supplied with pure oxygen gases, the detection signals obtained accurately correspond to the concentration of the gases Px.
