Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an excellent adsorbent to remove or reduce COD and color from waste water, water-crushed slag is added to aqueous inorganic acid solution and produced gel-liquid material is evaporated to be dried to form powdered solid.
CONSTITUTION: Water crushed slag from iron furnace is added to aqueous solution of inorganic acid such as hydrocholic or sulfuric acid, preferably 14g of water crushed slag to 100ml of 4N-HCl at room temperature to form gel products. The produced gel product is evaporated to be dried to form powdered solid, and, as required, is washed with water, dehydrated, and dried to provide adsorbent.
