Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to process instructions other than the ones which can be processed by a central processor unit, if they are applied, without large increase of the number of steps.
CONSTITUTION: Processing device 5 only for external use is connected to bus 4. Processing device 5 only for external use equips instruction decoder 6, which operates by means of the indication from central processor unit CPU, and processing circuit 7 controlled by the instruction decoder. When the instruction which CPU1 can not process is applied, CPU1 makes instruction decoder 6 decode the exceptional instruction instead of CPU1. Processing circuit 7 receives the data read out from main memory 2 by means of CPU1 and processes them according to the result decoded by instruction decoder 6. CPU1 has access the address, which the processed data are to be stored in, to the main memory and stores the processed data in the addresses by means of the operation of the write instruction.
