Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a magnetic coating from peeling off due to friction against a head by increasing magnetic coating strength by treating the surface of magnetic powder of more than pH4 by an interface activator obtained through the reaction of specific amine upon phoshate of alcohol.
CONSTITUTION: An interface activator obtained through reaction of amine of less than C16 with only carbon in a hydrophobic group upon of phosphate of alcohol is well mixed with a solvent to make magnetic powder of more than pH4 absorb the interface activator and the magnetic powder dried by heating is dispersed by bowl- milling together with a binder and the solvent and then applied to the base, thereby manufacturing a magnetic recording medium. Consequently, the magnetic coating is prevented from peeling off due to friction against a head and from sticking the head so as to improve electromagnetic characteristics and orientation, thereby preventing the deterioration of magnetism holding property.
