Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the using efficiency of the light as well as minimize the size for the illumination device used for the reading scanner or the like of the facsimile via the box-type fluorescent lamp the faces of which are finished into the mirror surfaces except for one face.
CONSTITUTION: For flat box-type fluorescent lamp 6, fluorescent paint 8 is coated on the inner surface of glass 7 of enclosing plate, and outer surface 10 is finished into the mirror surface except for face 9. Two units of lamp 6 are provided close to contact lens 12 with faces 9 opposing to each other, and thus the good illumination is secured for the light from two surfaces 9 at illuminated part 16 of manuscript 14. Owing to the box-type, an access can be obtained to the illuminated part with no distrubance of paper feed roller 13.
