Abstract

PURPOSE: To dispense with brushes and obtain the same characteristics as a Scherbius system, by providing a single-phase excitation winding and a single-phase armature winding on a stator and installing a squirrel-cage rotor.
CONSTITUTION: The excitation winding 10V and the armature winding 10A are provided on the stator so that these windings are perpendicularly crossed with each other. The squirrel-cage rotor 11 is provided. The excitation winding 10V is connected to an AC voltage sourse 13. The armature winding 10A is connected to a current source 14 consisting of a DC reactor 16 and a reversible DC power source 15. The magnitude and polarity of the output current of the power souvse 15 can be varied. The outputs of a phase adjusting circuit 27 and a current control circuit 26 are multiplied by each other to produce a signal. The turn-on phase of thyristors of the reversible DC power source 15 is controlled by the signal to regulate the speed of an AC motor. When the speed of the motor 12 falls due to the deficiency of its torque, the output of the circuit 26 increases to augment the amplitude of the output of a multiplier 20 to raise the peak value of the armature current. This results in increasing the torque and raising the speed.
