Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss of driving electric power, improve the reception power- factor, decrease the fluctuation in voltage on a power reception point and lengthen the lifetime of a synchronous motor, by effieiently performing the advanced-phase operation of the motor.
CONSTITUTION: When there is an ordinary load upon the synchronous motor 1, the motor is controlled by an excitation reference current setting circuit 10. When there is no load or a small load on the motor, an effective value difference is determined from the armature current and an effective value reference by an effective value calculation circuit 4, a reference signal generation circuit 5 and a calculation processing circuit 6 and discriminated by a discrimination circuit 7. The output of the circuit 7 is applied to an excitation current control circuit 8. Then, a phase control circuit 3 regulates the armature current by thyristor turn-on point control so that the armature current is minimized under the load and the advanced-phase operation of the motor is performed.
