Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the size of a transformer with less distance between the high and low voltage windings by making thicker the insulator of the low voltage winding only facing the high voltage winding among the low voltage two-stage helical windings composing the windings of the transformer.
CONSTITUTION: An insulated cylinder surrounds the outside of an iron 1 around which is wound a low voltage two-stage helical winding 2 comprising two low voltage winding units 2a and 2b concentrically arranged with one end connected in series. Then, around the outside of the low voltage helical winding, a high voltage winding 3 is wound at a distance for main insulation to form a transformer. In such an arrangement, one-stage and two-stage winding units 2a and 2b of the low voltage winding 2 are composed of a plurality of strands displaced, coated with insulators 11a and 11b, provided that the insulator 11b of the winding unit 2b only facing the high voltage winding 3 is made thicker by about 1.5 mm than the normal thickness of the insulator 11a. This can reduced the distance while lessening increase in the volume of the low voltage winding 2. In this manner, the size of the transformer can be reduced as a whole.
