Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title substance useful as medicines industrially advantageously, by bringing a water extract of medical ginsengs into contact with a porous crosslinked polystyrene resin adsorbent having a giant network structure, and by eluting the adsorbed substance.
CONSTITUTION: The subterranean or terrestrial parts of medical ginsengs are extracted with water, lower alcohol, e.g. methanol or ethanol, or hydrous lower alcohol, and the concentrate is dissolved in water or a ≤30% aqueous lower alcohol. The solution is then brought into contact with a porous crosslinked polystyrene resin having a giant network structure, and the adsorbed active constituent is eluted with a lower alcohol or a ≤30% aqueous lower alcohol to give the objective substance.
USE: Medicines for nourishment, tonics anti-inflammatory, anti-fatigue, anti-cancer, anti-tumor, and cardiotonic drugs.
