Abstract
PURPOSE: The reaction of an amide amine as N-cocoyl-N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine and acrylic acid prepares title compound that has highly amphoteric surface active effect, being used for detergent, emulsifier, dispersant, and wetting agent.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction of an amide amine of formula I (R1 is 7W21C saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbyl group; R2, R3 are H, 1W4C hydroxyalkyl), such as N-cocoyl-N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine with acrylic acid gives the objective compound of formula II [R'3 is R3, -CH2CH2COOM (M is H, alkali metal)], such as N-cocoyl-N'-(2-hydroxyethyl)-N'-(carboxyethyl)ethylenediamine. In the reaction, the amount of acrylic acid employed is 1W3 moles per mole of the compound of formula I, the reaction temperature is 70W95°C, and the concentration of the compound of formula I is 10W50 wt%.
USE: Surface active agent, being used for shampoo and detergent.
