Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable accurate and quick setting up of projection length of welding pieces and clamping of welding pieces strongly when making resistance flash butt welding by arranging holding devices for dlamping welding pieces and pressing devices for pressing electrode devices which operates independently from the holding devices.
CONSTITUTION: The welding pieces 54 and 55 are inserted into the resistance flash butt welder, and are clamped by the first pressing devices 16 and 17 consisting of the cylinder devices 5 and 6 and supplement clamping bases 13 and 14. At the same time, the electrode devices 34, 50, 35 and 51 are clamped by the second pressing devices 18 and 19 consisting of cylinder devices 7 and 8 and frames 9 and 10. Then, the edges of welding pieces 54 and 55 are cut by the cutting devices 52 and 53. Next, the both cylinder devices 7 and 8 are rised a bit, and the projection length adjusters 30, 31, 42 and 43 are moved to the direction of butt by the driving devices 28, 29, 40 and 41. Thus, the distances from the cut surfaces of welding pieces to the tip surfaces of electrodes are adjusted. After this, the welding pieces are butted and flash welded.
