Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize a digital speak voice insertion (DSI) system capable of appropriately absorving freeze out taking place on voice insertion. CONSTITUTION:A non-linear PCM signal NL is converted into linear PCM signal L through a expander 1, and separates data, and only a voice signal goes on DSI channel CH. And, a signal from a buffer 2 enters into a variable bit type ADPCM encoder 5 through the CH. On the other hand, a voice detector 3 detects presence of voice every specified unit block, at presence time, predicts acceptability of its signal to quantization noise ratio (S/Ng), this acceptability information is conveyed to a bit length controller in the encoder 5, when freeze out seems to take place, reduction of bit is implemented from what has good S/Ng, it is gathered to form a new channel, the freeze out is avoided and integrated gain is also improved.
