Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend frequency characteristic up to a high frequency area through suppressing circumference-wise and height-wise vibration providing a slit to a cylindrical type piezo-electric converter element. CONSTITUTION:On a cylindrical piezo-electric convertor element 1, through not shown in the figure, electrode wiring has been provided on the circumferential side face and the outside circumferential side face, and between the both electrodes, AC voltage is applied to cause it to vibrate and to radiate a sound wave in the radial direction. In this case, there is combined vibration of basic resonance frequency fr in the circumferential direction, thickness vibration fr and the vibration in the height-wise direction fh. Because of this fact, through providing a slit on the outside circumferential side face, the inside circumferential side face or on the both, the resonance frequency in the circumference-wise and height-wise directions are suppressed, and by arranged that the thickness vibration becomes the basic min. frequency characteristic is extended up to a high area, and the capacity can be made to be large and the lutrasonic sound radiation area of the piezo-electric convertor element can be also enlarged. Therefore, it is possible to radiate high power ultrasonic wave.
