Abstract

PURPOSE: The reaction of a specific organoalkoxysilane and a triorganosilanol is effected in the presence of a catalyst to produce monohydrodiene organopolysiloxane in high yield with no formation of by-product.
CONSTITUTION: The reaction of organoalkoxysilane of formula I [R1 is monofunctional hydrocarbyl, which may be substituted; R2 is 1W4C alkyl; n is 1, 2, 3] as dimethylmethoxysilane with (B) triorganosilanol of formula II [R3 is monofunctional hydrocarbyl, which may be substituted] as trimethylsilanol is effected in the presence of a catalyst amount of a metal salt or metal oxide as dibutyltin diacetate or potassium acetate to produce the objective polysiloxane of formula III.
