Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically sense the defective portion of a tirewheel rim by hermetically sealing the openings on both sides of the wheel rim by an appropriate means and by injecting air into the inside of the sealed wheel rim by an appropriate means.
CONSTITUTION: Sealing members 2 and 2' are covered on the openings of both sides of a wheel rim 1, and a conducting pipe 4 of a hot-air injection device 3 is inserted into the hole provided through a sealing member 2' on one side. A sensing probe 6 is provided at the position adjacent to the bottom of the surrounding wall of the wheel rim 1. Air A which is heated by a heater 5 is injected into the inside of a sealed hollow portion 1a of the wheel rim 1. The wheel rim 1 is revolved at a constant speed. When leakage of air A is sensed by the sensing probe 6, the revolution of the wheel rim 1 is stopped.
