Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a simple circuit configuration for readily driving or regeneratively braking a motor by connecting first parallel circuit consisting of a reverse conducting thyristor and a commutation reactor and second parallel circuit consisting of a reverse conducting thyristor and a commutation capacitor to the output side of a chopper circuit.
CONSTITUTION: A first parallel circuit consisting of a first reverse conducting thyristor 10 and a commutation reactor 12 and a second parallel circuit consisting of a second reverse conducting thyristor 11 and a commutation capacitor 13 are connected in parallel with the output side of a chopper circuit 1. Reverse conducting thyristors 5, 6 and a reactor 7 and a capacitor 8 form a step-down chopper unit A, and reverse conducting thyristors 10, 11 and a reactor 12 and a capacitor 13 form a step-up chopper unit B. Thus, it can switch between a power drive and a regenerative brake without contact with a simple circuit configuration to feed back the regenerative energy to the power side without consuming at resistors so as to thereby save the energy.
