Abstract

PURPOSE: To supervise and protect the rotation of a hysteresis motor, by detecting the input power or input power-factor of the motor and judging whether the polarity of the detected value changes or not when the output frequency of an inverter is sharply reduced.
CONSTITUTION: The inverter 1 of variable frequency and voltage is connected to the hysteresis motor 4. The detected values of the voltage and current of the motor 4 are applied to a power transducer 5 so that the detected values are changed into a DC voltage corresponding to the input power or input power-factor of the motor. The inverter 1 is controlled through a protector 6 comprising a comparator 61, a supervisory signal generator 62, a timing signal generator 63 and an AND circuit 64. The freqrency of the inverter 1 is sharply or gradually reduced by utilizing a change due to the transfer of the motor 4 from motor operation to generator operation. This enables the supervision and protection of the rotation of the motor without disconnecting it from a power source.
