Abstract
PURPOSE: To completely prevent the impairing of treated water quality due to the time lag encountered in control system for return sludge by providing a means by which sludge is mechanically divided and activated at the return sludge leading-in portion in an activated sludge treatment tank.
CONSTITUTION: In case where the inflow of water to be treated from the inlet pipe 4 into the aeration tank 1 divided by the partition wall 2 is rapidly increased, the controller 11 sends out a command to increase the revolving number of the return sludge pump 9 according to the signal of the sludge densitometer 10, but a time lag is taken place until the amount of return sludge is increased. Thus, during the time lag, the means such as water pump, rotary stirrer, etc., is operated to divide the sludge and increase its specific surface area for mechanical activation, thus resulting in an effect similar to the augment of sludge concentration.
