Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform effectively the oxidation of BOD and the nitrification and denitrification of ammonia by connecting the inlet for original waste water and the outlet for sedimentation tank to each of separately provided two reaction tanks and operating each tank by switching from aerobic condition to unaerobic condition or vice versa.
CONSTITUTION: The system consists of the two reaction tanks 1 and 2 connected to each other through the pipe 7 and the one sedimentation tank 3. Both the reaction tanks use a purifying apparatus for waste water, connected to the waste water supply tank 5 through the switching valve 4 and also connected to the sedimentation tank through the other switching valve 6. Original waste water is supplied to one reaction tank kept under unaerobic condition and also the other reaction tank kept under aerobic condition is connected to the sedimentation tank for treatment of waste water. After the elapse of a certain time, both the reaction tanks are kept under aerobic condition and the treatment is continued. Further, the supply of original waste water is switched every a given time for the continuation of the operation.
