Abstract

PURPOSE:To destaticize residual charges of paper and belt and prevent the occurrence of uneven transfer and reverse transfer by performing corona discharge through the use of destaticizing chargers applied with AC or DC voltages from both sides of paper after transfer and a belt. CONSTITUTION:In the multicolor electrophotographic copier of the system of forming toner images by colors on a plurality of photosensitive drums 1a, 1b, 1c and transferring toner images to paper, discharge occurs at the time of peeling between the surface of the first photosensitive drum 1a and paper 7 or belt 8 and since this produces paper or belt charging, it gives adverse influence to the transfer in the second photosensitive drum 1b. Thereupon, mutually opposedly disposed corana chargers 11 and 12 are provided on both sides of the belt 8 and paper 7 after the transfer of the respecitve photosensitive chargers 1a, 1b, 1c and coronal discharge is done in the form of sandwiching the belt 8 and paper 7 from both sides, whereby they are destaticized. Thereby, the occurrence of uneven transfer and reverse transfer in the second and subsequent photosensitive drums may be prevented.
