Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide at high productivity a buffer material excellent in pliability and buffer effect by slicing into a preferable thickness a column block which is made of an elastic synthetic resin and has a cross section corresponding to the expansion plan of the outside surfaces of the to-be-packaged article.
CONSTITUTION: For example, when the to-be-packaged article is an article 1 in the shape of a right rectangular prism having projections 1' on its top face, a block 14 is formed of an elastic synthetic resin, the block 14 having a cross section which corresponds to the expansion plan of the outside surfaces of the article 1 and comprises a bottom portion 11, four side strips 12, and a cover strip 13 having insert holes 13' corresponding to the projections 1'. The block 14 is sliced into a desired thickness, preferably 1 to 10mm, to yield buffer materials 10. On use, the article 1 is placed on the bottom portion 11, the side strips 12 are folded upright to surround the article 1, the cover strip 13 is folded with the projections 1' inserted in the holes 13', and the assembly in this condition is placed in a box.
