Abstract

PURPOSE: To accomplish the shock tests of a steel pipe in an accurate and prompt manner by attaracting a weight with the use of a lifting magnet and by demagnetizing the magnet thereby to drop the weight.
CONSTITUTION: A pully 6 for suspending a weight 4 through a lifting magnet 5 is disposed bove a column 2 which is anchored upright in a platform 1. Between the pulley 6 and an anvil 3, there is interposed a cylindrical guide 7 such that it can axially move within a stroke of about 15cm with the use of a hydraulic cylinder 9 which is fixed to the column. The weight to fall in the guide is composed integrally of an upper cylindrical portion having a larger diameter than the internal diameter d1 of the opening of the guide and a lower cylindrical portion having a smaller diameter than d1 and having a higher level than a convex step portion 10. And, the lowering operation of the guide, the dropping operation of the weight, the lowering operation of the magnet and the raising operations of the guide and the magnet are sequentially accomplished by a sequence circuit.
