Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an above-titled joint of high quality by inserting a heated thermoplastic resin pipe or plate between a female mold formed with a circular hole corresponding to a branch pipe and a male mold fitted with an elastic expansion bag in a circular cavity, tightening the molds, and injecting compressed air into the bag to expand it. CONSTITUTION:A female mold 3 is formed with a slanted circular hole 5 corresponding to a branch pipe 2, with the opening edge cut away to form an annular slanted surface 6. A male mold 4 is formed with a circular cavity 7 which has a diameter slightly smaller than that of the hole 5 and will come in register with the hole 5 on the joining of the molds. The mouth of a rubber balloon-like elastic expansion bag 9 made of synthetic rubber is fixed by a fixer metal 8 fitted at the bottom of the cavity 7, in such a manner that compressed air is fed into or discharged form the bag 9 through the center hole 10 of the metal 8 and a pipe 11. A heated thermoplastic resin pipe or plate 12 is inserted between the molds 3 and 4, the molds are tightened, and compressed air is injected into the bag 9 to expand the bag 9 into the hole 5 to form the branch pipe 2.
