Abstract

PURPOSE:In a thermal recording medium comprising a thermomelting ink layer formed on a substrate, to provide a print image excellent in resolution and rigidity by use of paper of specified properties as the substrate. CONSTITUTION:Paper of which the Beck smoothness according to JIS-P-8119 is 5 to 70 thousand seconds, the transparency according to JIS-P-8138 is 50 to 90%, and the thickness is 5 to 50mu is used as a sbustrate. A thermomelting ink consisting of 2 to 25% of a colorant, 5 to 55% of a binder, 0.5 to 10% of a petroleum resin, and 5 to 40% of a softener is applied on the substrate in a thickness of less than 15mu to produce a thermal recording medium. With this heat-sesitive paper and a copy sheet laid one upon another and loaded in a facsimile equipment, thermal transfer recording is conducted to yield a fresh print image free from unevenness. Because the substrate paper does not contract nor expand upon heating, the stability of transfer recording is enhanced and printing speed is largely improved.
