Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the purification efficiency of the title apparatus and to elongate the life of activated carbon by pressure-feeding air into waste water in an upper stream side treating vessel out of vessels set stepwise to purify the water while fluidizing activated carbon; introducing the purified water into a lower stream side treating vessel to purify it; and transferring activated carbon in the lower stream side vessel to the upper stream side one.
CONSTITUTION: Air is blown from pressure feed pipe 10a into waste water introduced in upper stream side treating vessel 1 contg. activated carbon to agitate the water with rising air bubbles as well as to fluidize the carbon, whereby pollutants are adsorbed on the carbon, and the water is aerated. The carbon used in vessel 1 is pulled out with pump 7a and fed to a regeneration tower. The water purified in vessel 1 overflows to next stage treating vessel 2 from upper openings 9 of partition wall 8 and purified with fluidizing activated carbon while being agitated with air from pressure feed pipe 10b. The purified water further overflows to treating vessel 3, where it is purified similarly. Activated carbon in vessel 3 is transferred to vessel 2 with pump 7c and further transferred from vessel 2 to vessel 1 with pump 7b.
