Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the wear of a platen and to even the coloring density of a heat-sensitive paper by evenly pushing the heat-sensitive paper against a heat- sensitive head by use of an elastic platen filled with a liquid or a gas.
CONSTITUTION: A liquid or compressed air 6 is filled in the space enclosed by a pressure applying film 5, support 7, and elastic platen film 2. When printing is conducted, a pressure 8 is applied to the liquid or compressed air 6 to press the surface of the film 5 and is transmitted to the film 2 in the absence of the support 7 to evenly push the film 2 and a heat-sensitive paper 3 against a heat-sensitive head 1. When the paper 3 is advanced, because the pressure is not applied, the film 5 is held in a plane, the film 2 and the paper 3 are separated from each other, and the paper 3 is advanced by a paper feed roll 4 while kept from the head 1 and the film 2.
