Abstract
PURPOSE: To co-crosslink an unvulcanizable rubber with a vulcanizable rubber and improve a fatigue-resisting character remarkably by mixing the unvulcanizable rubber with the vulcanizable rubber and a vulcanizing agent of sulfur, then half- vulcanizing by means of applying a specific amount of ionizing radiation and thereafter vulcanizing by heat.
CONSTITUTION: A rubber (A) such as crumb rubber unvulcanizable by sulfur or a rubber such as EPDM difficult to vulcanize and a vulcanizable rubber (B) such as butadiene rubber are mixed together with a vulcanizing agent of sulfur. Next, they are half-vulcanized by applying ionizing radiation of the amount of 1W20M rad, preferably 3W15M rad. Thereafter, they are vulcanized by heat and thereby a desired vulcanized rubber may be obtained. It is preferable to mix in a proportion of at most 50 parts by weight of the rubber (A) to 100 parts of the rubber (B).
