Abstract

PURPOSE:To construct a tank bottom structure, which can withstand liquid pressure and conform to the expansion and contraction of the tank, with a rigid hot insulation layer and a soft hot insulation layer and at a low construction cost. CONSTITUTION:Ring-like hot insulation layers 2 consisting of a foamed glass rigid body 1 at the same level are laid on and bonded to a floor by providing a gap between adjacent ones and also between the body and a side wall 3 of the tank, and soft urethane foad 4 is formed in the gap. The surface of the hot insulation layers is covered with a slippery thin plate 5 such that it receives the irregularities of the bottom plate 7 of the tank 7 and the irregularities of the surface. With the above construction, the hot insulation layer according to the instant method may be made thinner than the pearlite concrete layer. The merits of the rigid hot insulation layer and soft not insulation layer permit the construction to withstant the liquid pressure and conform to the expansion and contraction of the tank. Further, the hot insulation layer according to the method structurally strongly resists decaying, so that it can withstand use for 20-30 years.
