Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a polyethylene useful for blow molding, etc. and having a broad molecular weight distribution, high stiffness and excellent stress crack resistance, by using a catalyst system comprising a component prepared by thermally decomposing a specific titanium compound, and an organomagnesium component, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A polyethylene is prepared by polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a catalyst system comprising (A) a solid component prepared by reacting (a) a solid component obtained by thermally decomposing a titanium compound I (R is ≥3C hydrocarbon; X is halogen; 0<a≤1), with (b) an organomagnesium component, and (B) an organometallic compound, e.g. organoaluminum compounds, etc. A preferable example for the component (b) is a compound II (M is aluminum, etc.; R5 and R9 are lW10C hydrocarbon; X and Y are alkoxy, etc.; α,β>0; p,q,r,s≥0).
