Abstract

PURPOSE: To read information surely independently of fluctuation of read conditions by using the average value of the voltage output of a pair of photo sensors, which are arranged in the hole position which is always punched and the hole position which is never punched, as the threshold voltage.
CONSTITUTION: Part 4 which is never punched and part 5 which is always punched on punch card 1 are irradiated by light source 10 to generate a signal voltage according to the light intensity received by photo sensors 22 and 23 in detection part 20, and this generated voltage is outputted to signal processing part 30. The average value of signal voltages of photo sensors 22 and 23 is used as the threshold voltage in signal processing part 30, and the threshold voltage is compared with the output voltage of information punched hole 3 on punch card 1 to detect punched hole information. Since output voltages of photo sensors 22 and 23 are fluctuated together with the output voltage of information photo sensor 21 in one body, inforamtion can be read surely independently of fluctuation of read conditions.
