Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to simplify programming of a P-ROM which constitutes a code converter, by subjecting only input codes requiring code conversion to code conversion.
CONSTITUTION: 16-Bit input codes x0Wx7 and y0Wy7 are inputted to code conversion circuits 11a and 11b, control code generator 12 and data selector 13. Code conversion circuits 11a and 11b output outputs cx0Wcx7 and cy0Wcy7. Control codes 0 and 1 are written previously in the P-ROM, which constitutes control code generator 12, so that these codes may be outputted when code conversion of input codes is required and when code conversion of input codes is not required respectively. If the output from control code generator 12 is 1, data selector 13 outputs selectively the output of code conversion circuit 11; and if the output from control code generator 12 is 0, input codes are outputted as they are, and these outputs become addresses of character pattern memory 14.
