Abstract
PURPOSE: To make a stabilized operation obtainable, with a circuit part prevented from insulation breakdown, by providing a discharge gap, for producing a discharge when applied a voltage beyond the prescribed level, in parallel to the luminous tube within the outer tube.
CONSTITUTION: A start voltage generating circuit 5 is constituted by connecting a resistance heating unit 6, consisting of coil filament, and a thermal switch 7, consisting of bimetal switch, in series, and the thermal switch 7 is arranged in a location near the heating unit 6 further with a heat received from a luminous tube 2, with this generating circuit 5 and the laminous tube 2 connected in parallel. And below an internal conductor wire 3, 4, is welded a discharge rod 8, 9 made of a pair of high melting point materials, and protrusively provided so as to face each other, and between the point ends of these discharge rods is constructed a prescribed discharge gap 10. In this way, even when a start voltage is generated higher than the prescribed voltage, the voltage is discharged and absorbed by the discharge gap, thus capable of obtaining a stabilized operation.
