Abstract
PURPOSE: To separate hydrogen chloride and highly chlorinated methanes, by reacting a partly chlorinated methane with chlorine under a specific pressure or higher in the liquid phase in the presence of an azobisnitrile or a peroxide, and by rectifying the formed compounds at a little lower pressure than the reaction one.
CONSTITUTION: A partly chlorinated methane is reacted with chlorine in the presence of an azobisnitirile or a peroxide, in the liquid phase at 60W150°C under a pressure of 8kg/cm2-G or higher, preferably 10kg/cm2-G or higher, and 30kg/cm2-G or lower. Hydrogen chloride and highly chlorinated methanes are then separated by rectifying the reaction products taken out of the vapor and the liquid phases under a pressure of 7kg/cm2-G or higher but lower than the reaction one.
