Abstract
PURPOSE: To cool water to be cooled within a given temperature range irrespective of a change in an atmosphere temperature, by locating in a multi-stage heat exchange filled substances and sprinklers and by enabling a selective feeding of water to sprinklers.
CONSTITUTION: Heat exchange filled substances 2, 21 and sprinklers 3, 31 are positioned in a multi-stage in a cooling tower proper 1, and the sprinklers 3 and 31 are connected to a main water feed pipe 9 through water feed pipes 42, 43 and a switching device 5. The switching device 5 is changed over and controlled by means of a water temperature sensor 7 situated in a water storage bath 13, and as a result the main water feed pipe can be selectively connected to both or either of the water feed pipes 42 and 43. When a water temperature in the water sotrage bath 13 is within a predetermined temperature range, cooling water flowing out of a condenser 61 of a cooler 6 is sprinkled through the sprinklers 3 and 31. In the case of a high water temperature, the cooling water is sprinkled only from the sprinkler 3, and in the case of a low water temperature, the cooling water only from the sprinkler 31. This causes a cooling capacity of the cooling tower to change according to a water temperature, and as a result a water temperature in the water storage bath 13 can be kept constant. The cooler 6 can thus be operated highly efficiently.
