Abstract

PURPOSE: To protect a sealed-up tube from damage, by providing a protection member around the tube wherein a working medium for a heat pipe is enclosed.
CONSTITUTION: A wick 2 is provided on the inside surface of a container 1 made of metal such as copper. A lid 4, from which the sealed-up tube 3 projects, is fitted on the mouth part of the container 1. After the gas in the container 1 is removed through the tube 3, the working medium such as water or alcohol is injected into the container through the tube 3. The end of the tube 3 is then deformed so that the tube is sealed up. The protection member 9 like a cap is secured on the lid 4 to protect the sealed-up tube and isolate it from the ouside. The sealed-up tube 3 is thus prevented from being damaged by an external force, corrosion or the like.
