Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable positive-positive images and negative-positive images to be readily obtained by applying the bias voltage of the same polarity as that of latent images to toner carrier and applying the transfer electric field of the polarity opposite from that of electrostatic latent images.
CONSTITUTION: A first charger 2 and second charger 4 and a flood exposure device 3, an exposure device 5 and a developing roll 6 are disposed to a photosensitive material 1. With the photoconductive layer using Se being, e.g., a P-type photosensitive material, a negative voltage is applied to the first charger 2. Next, it is turned conductive by a flood exposure device 3 and undergoes positive charge discharging with the second charger 4, whereby the positive-positive images are obtained. Since the charges exist internally, there is no direct contact with the conductive toner, hence the decrease in image density owing to the leakage of the latent image charges and the image disturbance at the transfer owing to reciprocating motion of the toner do not occur. To obtain negative-positive images, a bias voltage is applied to the developing roll 6 without grounding this and this causes the toner to deposit on the non-image part, thereby enabling the reversal images to be obtained.
