Abstract

PURPOSE: To render a charger before transfer unnecessary, to simplify operation steps, and yet to obtain superior image density and high image quality, by installing 2 kinds of transfer chargers different from each other in charge polarity in the transfer unit of a 2-color copying machine.
CONSTITUTION: A positively charged red toner is transferred to transfer paper 12 with first transfer charger 17 for negatively charging, and then, second transfer charger 18 positively charges paper 12 ot transfer paper 12 a negatively charged black toner remaining on photosentive drum 1. Paper 12 is fixed with fixing unit 14. Since 2 kinds of transfer charger for charging to polarities different from each other transfer 2 kinds of toners charged to different polarities in separate steps, a charger before transfer can be omitted resulting in simplifying the process. A danger of deforming an image due to instabilized toners by charging before transfer can be avoided, permitting superior image density and high image quality to be obtained.
