Abstract

PURPOSE: To highly accurately judge the position, size and shape of a flaw by consecutively recording and treating the signal waveforms by a plurality of locating elements at a high speed.
CONSTITUTION: A multi-channel ultrasonic flaw detector 6, a channel selector 7, and a high speed sampling device 9 are connected with a locator mounting unit 2 which is equipped with a plurality of ultrasonic locating elements 1a to 1e and which is turned and axially moved by a driving device 4, and a drive control device 5 is connected with the drive device 4 in a controllable manner at the interface. As a result, the locating signals 100 from the locators 1a to 1e are fed as locating signals 100, synchronizing signals 102 and coupling check signals 103 to a channel selector 7 which is to be switched by binary signals 101. The locating signals 100 and synchronizing signals 102 for the preset locators 1a to 1e are fed to the high speed sampling device 9, and the coupling check signals 103 are fed to an input interface 8b so that their respective waveforms are compared with a flaw judging curve.
