Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently recover Sn in an effective form Sn-contg. sludge discharged from a metal surface treating process such as an Al electrolytic coloring process by dissolving the sludge in mineral acid and adding Al to reduce Sn4+ to Sn2+ after which the soln. is diluted, pH-adjusted, and treated with chelate resin.
CONSTITUTION: Sn-contg. sludge from plating vessel or Al electrolytic coloring vessel 1 is filtered 6 and dissolved in mineral acid in mineral acid soln. vessel 7. Next Al 8 is added to reduce Sn4+ to Sn2+, and the soln. is shifted to dilution and pH adjusting vessel 15, where it is diluted to a Sn2+ concn. of 300W500ppm with water 12 and adjusted to pH about 1W3 with acid 13. The adjusted soln. is filtered 9 and passed through chelate resin 10 to allow the Sn2+ alone to be adsorbed. The adsorbed Sn2+ is desorbed by feeding acid 11 to recover it as Sn salt.
