Abstract

PURPOSE: To compensate automatically a recording system with excellent frequency characteristics by making the compensating adjustment of the recording system by recording and reproducing different-frequency reference signals by superposing and then by separating the reproduced signal through a filter.
CONSTITUTION: Reference signals differing in frequency, outputs of oscillators 12W14, are recorded on tape 15 being superposed and the reproduced signal is separated by BPFs 18W20 according to frequencies. Reproduction outputs separated according to frequencies are sequentially outputted through alternation switch 22 and supplied to control circuit 27 via A/D converter 23 to control variable gain circuit 9 for recording, etc., and intermediate-band recording compensation circuit 10 or high-band recording compensation circuit 11, thereby compensating the recording system automatically with excellent frequency characteristics.
