CONSTITUTION:A time series of plant signals are stored in data processing part 31 for a certain time and relation between a group of abnormality causes of the plant and observation-signal actions is also stored in analysis part 32 in a causal- relation tree with time delay considered. By using those two outputs, data base 33 calculated the time integral value of the distance between the observation signal group and estimation signal group and also searches for the combination of occurring factors for minimizing the sum of the number of occurring causes, and the search result is displayed by display control part 34 as an estimated cause. Consequently, the cause can be estimated by the transient variation of plant signals when the plant is abnormal.
