Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the S/N ratio of a smoke sensor with the use of a simple construction by providing a plurality of such angular members on the peripheral wall of a dark box as are formed with bent vent holes having communications with the ambient air and as protrude inwardly. CONSTITUTION:Both a light source 3 and a light receiver 4, which is arranged at a position to receive no direct light from the light source 3, are attached integrally to a support 5 within a dark box 2 which is shielded in a cover 1. The peripheral wall of the dark box 2 is formed with a plurality of angular members 7 which are formed such bent vent holes 6 while protruding inwardly into the dark box 2 as can receive smoke. The wide angle of the troughs 8 which are formed of the members 7 is at least an acute angle, and the finish of the surface 9 is denser than about 800 meshes, if preferred.
