Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the discontinuation time of the control unit by giving the diagnosis to the operation of the two duplicating circuits one by one based on the microprogram to select the fault-free circuit and then continuing the subsequent processes.
CONSTITUTION: The output of logic circuit 1 and 2 are compared with each other. And in case no agreement is obtained, FF5 is set. Then the state of FF5 is monitored through the microprogram for the diagnosis. In case circuit 1 is decided faulty, the diagnosis is given to circuit 2. And if circuit 2 is decided normal, control signal 6 is operated by the microprogram to make effective the output of circuit 2 with the output of circuit 1 made ineffective. And when circuit 1 is decided normal through the diagnosis, the output of circuit 1 is made effective with the output of circuit 2 made ineffective. Thus, the fault of the ineffective circuit is detected and reported to continue the subsequent processes. In such way, the discontinuation time of the unit can be shortened by detecting the fault and without discontinuing the operation of the whole unit when the error occurs.
