Abstract

PURPOSE: For stable, high grade organic material treatment in waste water, the waste water is first made free from organic high molecular material and coloring components, providing improved condition for active carbon adsorbability, and then subjected to adsorption treatment.
CONSTITUTION: Organic waste water from sewage or drainage is first added with iron salt such as ferrous sulfate and hydrogen peroxide. This causes iron salt and hydrogen peroxide to react each other producing hydracid radical which oxidizes organic material in the waste water and decomposes it. Then, pH is adjusted to 3W 5.5 by adding alkali agent so that unreacted high molecular material which is biologically hardly decomposable, coloring components, etc. are precipitated together with ferric hydroxide flocks for separation. The treated waste water is neutralized by alkali and filtered, theb subject to adsorption by active carbon to thereby completely remove organic material and coloring component. Thus, the process effectively treats waste water and stabilizes high grade treatment.
